Torch of Gold Award

The Torch of Gold award recognizes a Scout leader who provides exceptional service to Scouts with Special Needs.

Within the Old North State Council, the Torch of Gold Award is a council level award. Districts may nominate a person for this award. District may not present this award.

Volunteer leaders and professionals who complete the list of requirements are eligible to earn the Special Needs Scouting Award.

Veterans Award Nomination Form

Veterans Awards for 25 years or greater, will be presented at the council annual recognition banquet.

Veteran Awards for 20 years or less, will be presented at the appropriate district recognition banquet.

All veteran award nomination forms must be submitted to bud.harrelson@scouting.org by December 1.

NOTE: Nomination deadline is different than listed above. Nominations are due to bud.harrelson@scouting.org on January 31.

  • Example: An Eagle Scout who completed an Eagle Board of Review in 2023, must have their nomination in by January 31, 2024.
  • An Eagle Scout, parents, or any registered BSA volunteer (with the Eagle Scout’s permission) may submit Eagle Scout service projects to their local council for consideration.
