WHAT IS EXPLORING?
Exploring is a unique career exploration program for young men and women ages 14-20. It provides students with an opportunity to learn about a wide variety of career fields and network with professionals already working in those fields.
WHAT DO EXPLORERS DO?
Explorers get hands-on experience to determine whether or not a particular career field is right for them. They develop valuable networking contacts with professionals working in their selected career fields, and they get to know other teenagers and young adults sharing their same interests and aspirations. Exploring can be the first step in identifying career possibilities while having fun in an exciting and informal environment.
Exploring leaders volunteer their time to provide real-world career experiences for young adults. Exploring is not about lectures and slide shows – it’s about gaining practical experience in a career field. The result is a program of activities that helps youth pursue their special interests, grow, and develop!
Explorers are organized into Posts based around their career interests. Posts are located at businesses or community organizations and are led by trained professionals in their respective fields.
We currently have several Exploring opportunities with: High Point Police, Piedmont Triad Ambulance and Rescue (Medical), Pleasant Grove Fire, Burlington Fire, Elon College Fire, Alamance Young Musicians, Swepsonville Fire, Greensboro Fire Department, Guilford County Sheriffs’ Department, TAA Flight Training (Aviation Post and Middle School Club), Reidsville Fire, Reidsville Police, and the Asheboro Police Department!
